What's in your Hands?

Jan 12, 2025    Rev. Bernie E Strickling

In this sermon, Pastor Strickling encourages the congregation to reflect on the metaphorical question, "What's in your hand?" by examining Moses' encounter with God in Exodus 4. As Moses initially hesitates in fear and doubt about his calling, he learns that God has equipped him with a staff, symbolic of the unique gifts and abilities each person holds. Pastor Strickling emphasizes that many individuals today also feel unprepared or incapable of fulfilling their divine purpose because they overlook the potential within themselves. Pastor Strickling reminds the congregation that God often calls us out of our comfort zones, just as He did with Moses, urging them to embrace their experiences—both positive and negative—as tools for a greater purpose. He highlights that our past challenges can and should be used as a source of strength to help others who suffer similar struggles, advocating for active service in God’s kingdom. Ultimately, the message is one of empowerment and encouragement: acknowledging and utilizing the gifts and experiences in our hands can lead to renewed strength and fulfillment of God’s plans in our lives and communities.
